Colorado's list covers sportsbooks and casinos, online and in person, for 1, 3 or 5 years. Sportsbooks must add you within three business days. There is no lifetime option, and it doesn't end on its own.

The gaps people miss
- Maximum is 5 years - no lifetime option
- Early removal can be granted by the Director - a person in crisis should know the list is not irrevocable
- Not automatic at expiry - you stay on until you request removal
- Colorado Lottery, horse racing and tribal casinos in southwest Colorado are not listed as covered
- 2026: SB26-163 (signed May 29, 2026, effective Aug 12, 2026) put sports-betting self-exclusion expressly in statute; Rule 9 revised Jan 2026
- Prediction markets, offshore sites and sweepstakes are not covered

- Fill out the online form, or download form DR 9681 and email/mail/drop it off (mailed form: notarized, with a copy of state-issued ID)

What you need
Paper form DR 9681: copy of state-issued ID and notarization. Online form ID requirement.
How long it takes to take effect
Sports betting operators must add new excluded persons within 3 business days (SB Rule 9.5(1)(c)).
What happens to your balance and open bets
Do this first, whatever your state says: withdraw your balance and let open bets settle before you enroll. Getting money back afterward means dealing with an operator that is now required to refuse you.
You may keep funds not actively wagered; money wagered while excluded is forfeited and operators may keep winnings. No points, bonuses, comps or free play can be redeemed (clarified in Jan 2026 rule revision).
Can you get off the list early?
Yes, unusually: you may petition the Division Director for early removal; the Director may require a self-evaluation or professional evaluation; if denied you cannot reapply for 1 year. After the term, removal is NOT automatic - you must file a removal request and get Director approval.
