Block the apps
Lock every app, then lock the phone
Excluding inside each app is the fastest wall you can build — most take effect immediately. Do it for every account you have, then add a blocker so a new app can’t take their place.
The side doors
Being on your state’s sportsbook list usually does not stop pick’em apps (PrizePicks, Underdog) or prediction markets (Kalshi, Polymarket, and the prediction apps run by DraftKings, FanDuel and Fanatics). They’re licensed differently. Exclude inside each one, and use a blocker to catch the rest.
Sportsbooks
- bet365 (US)
bet365's time-out tops out at 30 days. In New Jersey, excluding in the app also puts you on the state's internet list for every operator.
- BetMGM
A BetMGM time-out or self-exclusion carries over to every state where BetMGM operates, across sports, casino and poker.
- Caesars Sportsbook
Caesars' self-exclusion only covers the state you're in, lasts at least 12 months, and doesn't end automatically — you have to apply to come back.
- DraftKings
DraftKings has a cool-off you can set for 3 to 364 days and a separate self-exclusion. Its prediction app, DraftKings Predictions, has its own exclusion — do both.
- Fanatics Sportsbook
Fanatics refunds your cash balance when you self-exclude (minimum one year). Fanatics Markets, its prediction app, needs its own exclusion.
- FanDuel
FanDuel's timeout runs 3 to 365 days and can't be ended early; self-exclusion is a year minimum. FanDuel Predicts is a separate app with its own exclusion.
Fantasy & pick'em apps
- PrizePicks
PrizePicks offers a 1–30 day timeout, a 30-day-plus self-exclusion, or a lifetime ban. The same app now sells prediction markets, and state sportsbook lists usually don't reach it.
- Underdog
Underdog lets you exclude for 1, 3, 5 or 10 years or lifetime. Closing your account is not a block — it can be reopened with ID.
Prediction markets
- Kalshi
Kalshi is federally regulated, so state self-exclusion lists don't reach it. Its own exclusion can't be lifted early, but it doesn't block Kalshi contracts sold through other apps.
- Polymarket US
Polymarket US has no self-exclusion, deposit limit or cool-off tool that we could find. Your options are asking support to close the account and blocking it at the device level.
Lock the device
- Gamban
Blocking software that stops gambling sites and apps on every device you own. Several states give it away free.
- iPhone Screen Time
Use the iPhone's built-in Screen Time to stop betting apps from being installed and block betting websites — with a passcode someone else holds.
The Betting Firewall
This is one wall. You need five.
No single block holds on its own. A state list does nothing about offshore sites or the money in your checking account; an app exclusion does nothing about the next app. Stack all five.
